Inkanyezi Special School celebrates Casual Day
The event saw various activities taking place, such as poetry and drama recitals, a cake baking competition and a cooking competition

Inkanyezi Special School was a hive of activity today (September 2) as they hosted Casual Day celebrations.
Casual Day is a national disability day on which people with disabilities are celebrated and shown appreciation.
This day is celebrated every year on the first Friday in September. Casual Day stickers are sold at R10 each, the proceeds of which will go to 12 beneficiaries. Three of these beneficiaries are: Deaf Federation of South Africa (DeafSA), Down Syndrome South Africa (DSSA) and SA Federation for Mental Health (SAFMH).
The event at Inkanyezi saw various activities and competitions taking place, such as poetry and drama recitals, a cake baking competition and a cooking competition which saw Ladysmith Secondary School (Lasec) taking first place, Sakhele High School second place and the Ladysmith Gazette team third place.
Also present were representatives from the Mayor’s Office, SAPS, Social Development, and Sport & Recreation.
There was face-painting, and pupils from various schools were seen having fun and playing a variety of games.
