According to Lizzy Arumugam of Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications Department, the visit to the school was to give children safety tips, and to teach them what to do in the case of emergencies.
“The pupils were educated about child abuse, sexual offences, drugs, road safety and fire safety,” she said.
Public Order Police and the Fire Department entertained the pupils by performing demonstrations, and pamphlets pertaining children’s rights were distributed to them.
