NEWCASTLE – A multi-million Rand roads project should soon get underway.

Strategic Executive Director for Electrical, Mechanical and Technical Services, Lindile Zincume elaborated on where the R7-million allocated to road resealing for this budgetary year, would be spent.
Of this, R5-million was allocated to Newcastle, and R1-million each for Madadeni and oSizweni.
“With this limited budget, we have prioritised the following parking areas within the CBD, as they are in a bad state, with the intention we later erect parking meters to generate revenue.”

“The implementation will start now in September. We anticipate the program should be completed in two months.”
These areas are:
Mosque parking, the parking behind the Total filling station on Ayliff Street, the Midas parking at Victorian Mall (the developer is to implement this), parking at the Nedbank Centre, in addition to repairs to rutting on Hardwick Street between the Kirkland and Allen street intersections.
