Beginners’ luck hooks a big bite

A FIRST time deep sea fishing expedition culminated in an exciting case of beginner’s luck for Dominique Harmse.

Sixteen-year-old Dominique caught her very first saltwater fish recently, during a deep sea fishing trip in St Lucia. The young fishing enthusiast was in for an even bigger surprise when, after an exciting struggle with the massive tuna, Dominique found herself sharing her catch with a passing shark who sank his teeth into the floundering fish, stealing half of her first freshwater catch.

In the end, Dominique was still happy to have hooked herself a rather impressive catch, despite the visit from the “tax man” which left her with a 15kg half body tuna and tired arms.

Vryheid Ski Boat Club would like to remind members to pay subs before the upcoming AGM, which will take place on October 12.

Boat inspections will take place on October 1 and will be followed by an evening of live entertainment at the club.

Hendri Alant, Anton Fitchat, Francois and Etha will be performing live at the club. Tickets only available from Marlize at Power Plastics.

Vryheid Ski Boat Club is now open on Saturdays and take aways are available from Monday to Friday. There is a jungle gym to keep the children entertained.
