Hard work pays off for swimmers

VRYHEID Swimming club held their AGM and yearly prizegiving on September 5 at Hoërskool Pionier.
During the swimming season, which is between August and March, each of these swimmers has to take part in galas and qualify for the Level gala at Kingspark in March. At this gala, the swimmers compete with swimmers from the National Southern Part of South Africa. The competition is hard and the qualifying times are tough. The prizegiving is based on the times that they swam during the season.
The swimmers worked hard during the season and congratulations to all the swimmers who received the following awards: Jano Strydom – Top 10 Boys, Pierre Grobler – Top 10 Boys and Level 1 qualifier, Zoe Richards – Top 10 Girls, Best Upcoming swimmer, Most Reliable practiser (Carmen) and Level 1 qualifier, Nadine van Wyk – Best Junior Girl swimmer, Top 10 Girls and Level 1 qualifier, Ilani Lathleiff – Top 10 Girls, Berne van Heerden – Best Senior Girl swimmer, Top 10 Girls, Best Backswimmer, Best u/16 50m Backswimmer, Best Fly swimmer and Level 2 qualifier, Hendry van Wyk – Top 10 Boys and Most Versatile swimmer, Dirk Grobler – Best Jnr Boys swimmer, Best u/15 boys 50m Backswimmer, Top 10 Boys and Level 1 qualifier and medal winner in 50m back, Jaco Schutte – Swimmer of the Year, Best Senior Boys Swimmer, Top 10 Boys and qualifier for the SAPD in Bloemfontein, Christopher Doust – Best 50m Freestyle swimmer, Best 50m Fly swimmer and Top 10 Boys, Muller Smith – Best Breast swimmer, Best 50m Breast swimmer and Top 10 Boys, Nicola Smith – Most Reliable practiser (Pierre) and Top 10 Girls.
Absent: Natasha Klein – Top 10 girls and Best Freestyle swimmer, Kirston Verschuuren – Top 10 Girls and Level 1 qualifier, Bianka Hellberg – Top 10 Girls, Mieke van der Walt – Top 10 Girls, Leandri Harmse – Top 10 Girls, Rudi Dedekind – Top 10 Boys, Karl Kohlmeyer – Top 10 Boys and Cornè van der Walt – Top 10 Boys.
Registration for the new season is already open, so please make sure that you are registered in time to avoid disappointment. Good luck for the season that lies ahead.
