David Jenkins, also known as Qadasi, meaning ‘white person’ in isiZulu, is an accomplished Maskandi musician who developed a deep passion for Zulu culture and music at a young age, growing up in Empangeni, right in the heart of Zululand. Now based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, David is following his dream of being a professional Maskandi musician and is proud to be a SAMA (South African Music Award) and two-time SATMA (South African Traditional Music Achievement) Award nominee. With the release of his latest album titled, Uhambo Olusha (A New Journey), Qadasi’s quest to revive traditional Zulu Maskandi music is well underway.
Steve Newman is a South African acoustic guitarist , and was a founder member of the popular African group Tananas . For thirty years Newman has been collaborating with fellow South African guitarist, Tony Cox. He is also one of The Aquarian Quartet, consisting of Tony Cox, Syd Kitchen (deceased 2011), Greg Georgiades and Steve Newman. He was a member of Mondetta, a self-described “world music group”, with Gito Baloi (of Tananas) and Wendy Oldfield.

Durban-born 2012 Standard Bank Young Artist Award winner for Jazz, Afrika Mkhize, started playing the piano at the age of six. Mkhize believes that “Jazz is not to be played but to be lived.” He is a pianist and a serious jazz musician who has the versatility to play music from across the spectrum, from African grooves to hip-hop to straight-ahead jazz, and in any company. The son of acclaimed jazz musician Themba Mkhize, is a multi-talented artist who produces and composes for other artists.
