A pack of four dogs savaged and killed four goats on land owned by a group of emerging farmers on the Dundee/Helpmekaar road in the vicinity of Stratford Farm.
One dog was later shot dead by security offices called by the farmers. The Sibongile Farmers Association owns the land.
Two of the farmers, Mr Mbatha and Mr Bhungane, said that the dogs need to be controlled and urged the relevant Department to impound stray dogs.
The Courier recently reported on a pack of seemingly wild dogs that terrorised residents and domestic animals in the area between Indumeni Street and the Avon Industrial area. A SPCA official later shot the dogs.
The emerging farmers said they had already lost livestock to the drought and that they can no longer afford to suffer further losses.
The savaging of their goats cost them R5 000, they told the Courier.
