Michaelis Challenge 2016 a massive one

THE Michaelis Schule held its 9th annual Michaelis Challenge on September 24 at Bloemveld Dam.

It was a big one and it was awesome. We had 449 mountain bikers and runners testing their skill and endurance, traversing scenic hills, single tracks and forest roads, or those others who took life less seriously and leisurely strolled around the dam (or what’s left of it) on the 5km or 10km track, enjoying good company and the countryside.

The lively festive atmosphere back at base was all thanks to Keith Eaton’s entertainment, the brilliant MC. The Vryheid Boating Club’s infrastructure and tasty catering also played a big part. Thank you, Kommandoor Roos and your team at the boating club, for good company, quality coffee and eats, children’s entertainment and an impressive prize giving for the winners and lucky ones – two of whom each walked away with an air-conditioner! What an amazing event on the community calendar.

Thank you to all the athletes, spectators and supporters who shared their Heritage Day with us. Thank you too, to the parents of Michaelis Schule who tirelessly worked so hard to make it all come together.

We thank our main massive super sponsor, the air-conditioning and ventilation specialists from Vryheid, and the other big sponsors, who supplied the athletes with juices and the like, as well as the sponsored water and the banner. Thank you to our T-shirt sponsors for your contribution.

The Michaelis Challenge will be back in 2017 – only bigger and better. See you there!
