Lasec reaches out to St Chad’s for Heritage Day
The team from Lasec would like to place on record that their community outreach projects are sustained solely by the goodwill and dedication of key individuals
On Saturday, Mr K Bihaspat and a team from Ladysmith Secondary School (Lasec) extended an invitation to St Chad’s and Grace Family Church for a Heritage Day celebration.
The event took place at Bet-el Church situated in Carbineer Road.
A bus was hired to transport 160 people from St Chad’s and Grace Family Church, who then gathered in Bet-el Church, where Lasec learners conducted a praise and worship session.
Pastor Oupa Eddie and Pastor Khanyi delivered the Word, which spiritually uplifted the people gathered for the event. Then it was time for a refreshment break consisting of juice, scones, cupcakes and cake, sponsored and prepared by the Royal Hotel. Thereafter, 10 items were performed to celebrate Heritage Day.
Lasec learners performed Sarafina dances, traditional Zulu dances and Indian dances. Poems and songs were also recited after several ice-breakers were undertaken.
Pastor Petse (who is the senior pastor of Grace Family Church), together with his congregation, presented musical items in recognition of the effort put in by Lasec.
Lunch, consisting of a variety of sandwiches and hot dogs, was then distributed, all sponsored and prepared by the Royal Hotel. Fruit packs and chips were also given out during the concert.
In addition, 90 packs of sanitary towels were distributed to the females of Grace Family Church.

Gideon International and Pastor Matthew Lee must also be thanked for their generous donation of 180 Bibles, which were freely distributed to all those gathered in the venue. The financial contribution was in memory of the late M Chinnah, and thanks also to the educators and Mrs R Cheddie for sponsorships.
