EDUCATORS from all around AbaQulusi are advised to be on the lookout for a new scam conducted by a man who calls himself ‘S Hlatshwayo’.
According to the Department of Education’s Ntombiziphelele Hlophe, this man has been contacting principals at various schools telling them that he has been sent by the Department of Public Works to deliver mobile homes at their schools and that they need to pay R3000 for transporting them.
“School principals need to be very vigilant and should contact the department should they be requested to pay for anything they were not informed about. They should also be aware of the fact that we do not take mobiles from the Department of Public Works, we get them from Integrated Development Planning (IDP)”, said Mrs Hlophe.
The local SAPS’ Major Vusi Mbatha urges school principals to report cases to the police immediately.
The man is said to have been using the cellphone number 064 701 5966, which he may have changed by now, but principals are still urged to be on the lookout for this cell number and to contact the police immediately should they receive a call from it.
