Fun and fierce competition in LAC Night Race
Race winner Siyabonga Nkonde said it was a tough course with many steep uphill sections to test one's stamina
Ladysmith Athletic Club (LAC) hosted their annual Night Race today (October 1).
Sponsored by Drakensberg Logistics and Boardmans, the event kicked off with a 5km fun-run in which young and old could get some good exercise without straining themselves too much.
The main race, which was a 21km half-marathon, was more serious and had the athletes pounding the streets in order to finish in the top positions.
Race winner Siyabonga Nkonde said it was a tough course with many steep uphill sections to test one’s stamina.
Being first to the finish line, a jubilant Siyabonga said he was happy with his performance on the day and expressed gratitude to his coach for all the help with race preparations.
