All around great performance at Project Evening

Project evening:
ON Thursday, September 8, parents, pupils and teachers attended the annual Project Evening in the Michaelis School Hall. This is an event where the students present their projects to their parents and guests. The preparations began early on Thursday morning. After setting out the tables and chairs, the students presented their projects for marks.
Thereafter they rushed to the kitchen to begin preparing the meal. They were put into groups to make the food. Armed with knives, they began to slice vegetables. There were so many! By 2pm, most of the food was ready.
Everyone returned in the evening and the students presented their projects on either ‘African Countries’ or ‘Animal Adaptations’.
Everyone did well. After the presentations everyone was happy to eat the delicious food. Finally, the students and parents stayed behind to help clean up. Thanks to Mrs Niebuhr and Mr van der Walt, the evening was a great success and the standard of work was very high.
Cricket:
Our U13 cricket team played against Nardini on Wednesday. Michaelis batted first and scored 198 runs in the 20 overs. Mthobisi Dlamini scored 78 runs and Oluhle Simelane scored 73 runs. Well done boys! Nardini went in second and could only manage 50 runs before they lost all their wickets. Brilliant bowling from Mthobisi Dlamini once again, who took 3 wickets for only 13 runs.
Michaelis Challenge:
We would like to thank the community of Vryheid, as well as all those who traveled to join us at our Challenge on Saturday! We had a great turn out and hope to increase our numbers even more in 2017. Thank-you to all our parents and teachers that worked so hard in the cold weather. It is much appreciated. Last but not least, we would like to thank our fantastic main sponsor, Vinko, for truly giving it their all and every other sponsor that contributed to this day. Without you, this event would not have been possible!
