Teen jailed for 30 years for vicious murder

A former Dundee Secondary School student has been jailed for 30 years for the vicious murder in 2013 of a man in Sibongile.
Bandile Bisto Mbatha (19), who resides in the Sibongile New Extension, appeared in the Dundee Regional Court on a charge of stabbing to death Mduduzi Marvellous Khumalo (24) of Ngenetsheni, Vryheid area, in the early hours of October 3, 2015.
Mr Khumalo was walking on Langa Street when he was attacked by Mbatha. Two men who were with Mbatha at the time tried to stop him but the Court heard who Mbatha continued to thrust a knife into Mr Khumalo’s neck.
Mbatha was later arrested and Dundee detectives, Captain Mpungose, Warrant Officer Nkabini, Warrant Officer Mtshali and Warrant Officer Moloi investigated the case. Station Commissioner, Colonel Nyide, congratulated the officers on their fine work.
Mbatha was attending Dundee Secondary School at the time. The two men who were with him, Sihle Mlungisi Zulu (20) of Lindelani and Siphenisonke Magovela Mlambo (24) of Sibongile. Both will appear in the Regional Court in February 2017.
