Strong weekend for Vryheid runners across three events

VAC runners celebrate strong results, personal bests and podium finishes across a busy weekend.

What a weekend it has been for our VAC family! From our home ground in Vryheid to the beautiful trails of Tulbagh – our runners have been putting in the miles!

Prof. Otty Nxumalo Marathon

A huge well done to all our VAC runners who took on the Prof. Otty Nxumalo Marathon right here on home ground on Saturday. Our runners were on fire and lots of great achievements were achieved. We would like to shine a spotlight on a few of our VAC runners who delivered exceptional performances over the weekend.

Melissa Scheepers absolutely smashed the marathon, finishing in an incredible 3:45:19 to claim second place in her age category. What a performance, Melissa!

Smangele Mnguni had an amazing 21km! She not only smashed her 21km PB in a time of 1:40:01, but also claimed the ZDM prize – awarded to the first runner from the Zululand District Municipality area to cross the finish line. What an achievement!

Phumlani took on the 21km and secured second place in his age category, while also finishing in a remarkable 1:27:17. That is seriously impressive!

Bongiwe Zulu deserves a very special mention for the successful delivery of her passengers over the 21km. Sometimes the biggest achievement is getting everyone safely to the finish line!

Well done to all our VAC runners! Every kilometre, every PB, every podium and every finish is something to celebrate.

Three days on the Tulbagh trails

Our trail blazer queen – Ingrid Klingenberg

Our incredible Ingrid Klingenberg took on a great three-day journey at Run the Cape – Tulbagh Trail Run! The adventure kicked off on Friday and continued through to Sunday, with beautiful trails, breathtaking scenery and plenty of kilometres to conquer. Ingrid enjoyed every minute as she soaked up the sunshine and scenery.

We are so proud of every VAC runner who gets out there, pushes their limits, and represents our club with pride!
