Scam alert: ATM con artists out in force
Several minutes later, the victim received a SMS on his cellphone that R2700 had been withdrawn from his account.

Police have again urged those using banking ATMs to take extreme care as con artists are out in force.
Captain Mbense, Dundee SAPS Communication Officer, said there was another reported case last week in town where a man inserted his card into a Standard Bank ATM to withdraw money.
The card became stuck after he already put in his pin code. He was then approached by a person unknown to him who tried to assist but the card remained in the machine.
Several minutes later, the victim received a SMS on his cellphone that R2700 had been withdrawn from his account.
“Call the bank help lines to immediately cancel your bank card should it become stuck. These numbers are on every ATM. Never allow any person to assist you at an ATM unless they are bona fida bank officials. Take your time and make sure your card and your money are safe.”
