Young or old, happy or sad, bashful or flamboyant and experienced or not, the world of an artist has no boundaries.
Jean van der Linde showcased his artwork at the annual Ferrum High School art exhibition on October 12.
Jean’s witty painting depicts President Jacob Zuma with a clock embedded in his head. The symbolism behind this peculiar painting is astonishing.
“I did this painting during second term and at that point, the news was flooded with stories about the President and how ‘his time is running out’. The theme of our artwork was ‘time’ and I thought it would be fitting.”
“I enjoy drawing and creating art, and I love sport,” said Jean.
This dashing young man plays hockey for the school, and is actively involved in the Voortrekkers.

Jean is currently in Grade 12 and hopes to establish a career in health and safety next year.
