Something sweet at Spar this Christmas at Super Spar bakery

Do not stress if you have made holiday plans to be away during that time – Carlos will ensure that if you are a winner, but can't be in the store when the draw is done, the trailer will be kept for you!

Likening himself to a football team manager, Carlos da Silva, believes in getting the best out of his bakery staff and is confident that soon a ‘Ronaldo’ will stride forward.
The footballing analogies are fitting to Carlos – supporter of the Portuguese national team – but a man also passionate about South Africa, Dundee and in particular, Charlies SuperSpar, where he is the new bakery manager.
He is already making his presence felt by coming up with new creative, baking ideas and keeping his staff up to speed with new techniques.
“It is such a pleasure to live in Dundee after the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg – this is really a sweet town,” he told the Courier. In Johannesburg, Carlos was involved in running businesses and is an experienced caterer. He invites customers to come and chat to him about all the special occasion cakes and other baking requirements. Carlos has also designed a till slip competition where one lucky customer will ‘tow-away’ with a new trailer on December 15.
“Buy any product from the bakery (scones, cakes, muffins, doughnuts – the qualifying products are on display in the shop), put your name and contact number on the back of your till slip, drop it into the box and you can win, should your name be drawn at 5pm on December 15.”

George Adalis of Charlies SuperSpar described Carlos as a real asset to the store. “He has a wonderful work ethic and is a natural motivator. He is indeed our Doctor Bakery!” With loyal bakery staff, like Raphael, who has 32 years service, and others, the SuperSpar bakery is bound to make life sweeter.
