Practical tips on staying safe

David Allen highlighted what measures to take in those unforeseeable dangerous situations, whether it be a house robbery or hijacking

Crime has become a part of many communities and makes its way into homes, businesses and even schools.

Crime won’t magically disappear and with that said Deputy Chairperson of the Community Police Forum David Allen hosted a hands-on talk at the Midlands Christian Centre on Monday afternoon, October 17.

He passed down vital tips and effective ways to protect one’s self, including your loved ones, if faced with an emergency situation.
He highlighted what measures to take in those unforeseeable dangerous situations, whether it be a house robbery or hijacking, when one tends to panic. Handy advice was issued at the talk on how easily you can shake the panic off and get into defence mode. Police have noticed that most house break-ins are carried out by youth.

The above crime statistic left the audience shocked. David touched on this crime trend, just after he demonstrated how to effectively defend yourself from an attacker.

Attendees listened attentively to Mr Allen; they also had interesting suggestions and questions at the end of the talk after which warm beverages were enjoyed.
