Athletes awarded at classy event

SATURDAY night was the first time this year that our members had the opportunity to leave their T-shirts and tekkies in the cupboard and get dressed up.
They all arrived in style to the theme party for the Vryheid Athletics Club‘s annual year-end function and prize giving.
All who dressed up for the Great Gatsby party looked absolutely breathtaking and the dining hall was decorated so classily by Loumey Swanepoel, ready for the most tasteful meal, prepared by Ria De Bruin. Excitement filled the hall as members waited for the prize giving.
Trophies were handed out to reward the runners for their hard work throughout the year.

Some were unable to attend as they were participating in various races over the weekend, such as the Kaapsehoop in Nelspruit, the Gooderson Trail run at Monks Cowl and the popular Soweto Marathon. (See ‘Sports results’ on the back page).

Our Annual AGM will be held on November 24, with a braai thereafter. Please can all attend, as our new committee will be elected for 2017.
All our runners and walkers have yet again outdone themselves this year in flying our maroon and white colours high.
