It was a spectacular match where it was a rollercoaster for both teams, each being in front at different stages of the game. It was truly an exhibition for the game of cricket, going down to the last over of the game.
Dumbe batted first and, at one point, it looked as if a huge score of 200 plus was on the cards, but a good fight back from the Wicket Wasp bowlers kept them to 159/7 in the 20 overs.
Juan Fryer (53) and Leon Solms (47) were the top batsmen, with PJ du Toit (4-0-24) and Triztian Nel (3-0-13-1) being the best bowlers in the first innings.
Wicket Wasps looked set to win the game, being 145/2, but a courageous effort from the Dumbe team, who held their nerve and took crucial wickets at crucial times to beat Wicket Wasps in a last over thriller.
Rupert Beneke (4-0-28-2) and Juan Freyer (4-0-30-2) had the best bowling figures for Dumbe, while Tiaan Naudè (76) and Triztian Nel (42) were Wicket Wasps’ top run scorers. Dumbe won the match by four runs and the T20 trophy.
