Rotary turns coins into thousands for the needy

"Rotary extend their sincere gratitude to all shoppers who so generously contributed to such a worthy cause."

How do you turn R2 into food valued at R15 000? Ask the Dundee Rotarians.
Their R2 food collection project at the Dundee Boulevard Centre raised that amount in non-perishable food for both humans and animals.
Rotarians approached shoppers and handed them a R2 coin, encouraging them to use the money to purchase a tin of food (people or animal food!).
“Many of the shoppers very kindly returned their R2 coin when handing over food items, saying it should be handed to someone else,” said Ken Vorster of the Club.
“The Rotary Club thanks Pick ‘n Pay and all those involved for their continued support of this very worthy project.
The food items were distributed to the nominated beneficiaries: Siphuthando Care Centre – Sibongile; Endumeni Senior Citizens Group – Glencoe; SAVF – Dundee and Glencoe and the SPCA. “Rotary extend their sincere gratitude to all shoppers who so generously contributed to such a worthy cause.”
