FCS units in KZN send sex offenders to prison

410 offenders were brought to book in cases including rape, statutory rape, child pornography and kidnapping

For the month of October, Family Violence, Child Protection & Sexual Offences (FCS) units in KwaZulu-Natal managed to secure a total of 55 sentences, eight life sentences and 358 years in prison for offenders.

410 offenders were brought to book in cases of rape, child pornography, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, robbery, kidnapping, statutory rape and housebreaking.

KZN Acting Police Commissioner Major General Bheki Langa praised the KwaZulu-Natal FCS units for their dedication in sending sexual predators to prison.

“We will continue to protect vulnerable women and children in our province. Our detectives worked hard and showed their commitment during the investigations to ensure that all the accused are convicted and sentenced,” said Major General Langa.

He went on to say that victims of sex-related crimes are urged to speak out about abuse so that criminals can face the consequences of their actions.
