Update: Water works maintenance complete
Some areas now have running taps, but the water coming out is dirty

The emergency maintenance work that has been carried out over the last few days at the Ezakheni Water Treatment Plant in the Embizeni area is now complete.
Water supply to the affected areas has been restored, but the reservoir will take a while to fill up, leaving most residents without water for a bit longer.
“The maintenance is now complete, but we are not sure what the problem is. Our engineers are trying to find out,” commented uThukela communications officer Jabulani Mkhonza.
He also stated that they will issue an update on the situation today (November 14).
Over 250,000 households have been without water as a result of the maintenance work. Residents of Ezakheni, Acaciavale and Aloe Park have had dry taps since Friday (November 11).
This has left residents furious as to why the problem has been going on for so long, saying that water is a necessity that is vitally important in day-to-day living.
With the maintenance now complete, some areas have running taps, but the water coming out is dirty.
“The dirty water coming out of the taps is because of the silt and will clear gradually during the course of the day,” added uThukela communications officer Jabulani Mkhonza.
