X-raying the fear out of hospital visits

The day was a huge success for the x-ray department and we would like to thank all the doctors and other staff members for their kind contributions and support

Most fear a trip to the hospital. The x-ray department can be even more daunting if you are suffering from a severe limb break or illness.
Dundee Hospital marked World Radiography Day on November 8 to reach out to the public and to give them information on x-rays, an ultrasound, a CT scan, MRI scan and radiotherapy.
“Most people do not understand the procedures that are associated with this department which leads to unnecessary confusion and even fear in an already tense environment,” said Nirasha Raghu, chief radiographer-in-charge, at Dundee Hospital.
“The day was aimed at making people aware of the role of radiographers and the significance of the procedures that are performed by them. There were informational pamphlets available to the public as well as radiographers on hand to answer any questions and queries. There were also some refreshments available in the form of juices, cupcakes, chilli-bites as well as chips and sweets for the kids.”
“The day was a huge success for the x-ray department and we would like to thank all the doctors and other staff members for their kind contributions and support. We also thank Orange Grove Dairy for their generous donation of fruit juices.”
