IFP members march on Nquthu Municipality

Supporters call for MEC to 'stop interfering' in local council affairs

Thousands of IFP supporters took to the streets last week Wednesday, armed with a memorandum and singing struggle songs as they marched on the Nquthu Municipality.

The supporters want COGTA MEC Nomusa Dube to ‘stop interfering’ in the local council.

This comes after the Municipality was placed under administration by COGTA after they failed to fill the positions within council.

ANC Spokesman, Joe Sikhakhane said that the ANC and the MEC were not ‘interfering’ in matters as the constitution allowed the MEC to intervene in nonfunctioning municipalities.
