Providing background, Manager of Special Programmes Unit, Samke Dube urged councillors to understand the role of the LAC and the part they need to play.

She reminded them of the importance of understanding their wards, to be aware of the needs of their community.

Ms Dube said the community should to be trained emotionally and psychologically to appreciate and understand the functions of the municipality and programmes such as LAC.

Chairperson of the Women’s Forum, Jabu Sithole, speculated most women knowingly got infected with HIV.

“Women are willing to do anything to get food on the table for their families.”

“We should unashamedly speak about HIV /Aids until everyone listens; we can decrease the number of infections in our district,” concluded Ms Sithole.
