No arrests yet after triple murder in Sithembile

Police have made no arrests and are yet to establish a motive following the deadly Sithembile shooting.

Police have made no arrests and have yet to establish a motive following the fatal shooting that claimed the lives of three people and left a fourth seriously injured in Sithembile, Glencoe, last weekend.

The shooting occurred shortly after midnight on Saturday.

Ward 3 Councillor Mbulelo Phakathi told the Courier that a ward committee member contacted him at about 00:40 after hearing a volley of gunshots and fearing an attack was underway.

The committee member later confirmed that four neighbours had been shot.

Three victims were declared dead at the scene, while a fourth was rushed to hospital for treatment.

Cllr Phakathi, who visited the scene shortly afterwards, said the victims were found where they had been shot.

“The victims were travelling in a maroon Volkswagen Polo. The gunmen appeared to be travelling in two vehicles,” he said.

The circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear, and police have not established a motive.

Police investigations are continuing, and anyone with information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact the South African Police Service or Crime Stop anonymously.
