Mshayazafe youth taking the lead

The organisation was founded in August when a group of youngsters decided to join hands and assist the youth in the area

Residents from Mshayazafe gathered together on Sunday morning to meet and welcome the newly formed uMshayazafe Youth Community Organisation.

The community hall was the venue and residents eagerly awaited to hear about the plans and goals this team of young individuals had in mind.

The organisation was founded in August when a group of youngsters decided to join hands and assist the youth in the area. Issues like bursaries, unemployment, alcohol and substance abuse and recreational activities will be addressed by the youth organisation.

On Sunday, they welcomed guest speakers Constable Mkhwanazi and Constable Dlamini from the South African Police Service as well as Thobeka Nxumalo from a tertiary institution. The guest speakers encouraged the residents to work with the uMshayazafe Youth Community Organisation to stamp out crime and other social ills that plague the youth.

The community was also introduced to the committee members and urged to speak to them about concerns they have. Apart from the speeches, there was also entertainment in the form of songs and sketches rendered by the organisation’s choir, Mshayazafe Golden Voices.
