Hibiscus Avenue water woes

The constantly wet ground is a concern for the family, as is the vast amount of water being wasted on a daily basis

Imagine living in a constantly damp environment?

Water trickling into your yard, trailing through your garden and flowing threateningly close to your home?

This is what a family in Hibiscus Avenue has been living with for more than three months. They noticed that a water leak was making its way from the front of the yard and running through to the back yard.

The constantly wet ground is a concern for the family, as is the vast amount of water being wasted on a daily basis. There is also a water leak evident on the road, which has been neglected for weeks.

Telephone calls to Uthukela District Municipality have not proved fruitful and the family resorted to contacting the Estcourt News last week.

A family member reported that last Thursday, staff from Uthukela District Municipality arrived in Hibiscus Avenue and at first seemed to be examining the water leak. However, after some time, the resident reported that the staff members plucked apricots from a tree, ate them and left shortly afterwards, without repairing the leak.
