Open manhole poses danger to children
The manhole is at the side of the road and is covered by grass, making it difficult to see

A manhole that does not have a cover was spotted by a local resident next to Egerton Primary School’s Agar Field. The resident raised his concern by coming to the Ladysmith Gazette, saying that children who walk and play in the area could get hurt.
“It is a residential area and the children who school at Andante, not to mention the Egerton children who play sport on the field, could be badly injured,” said the concerned resident.
The manhole is at the side of the road and is covered by grass, making it difficult to see. This adds to the danger.
Alfred Duma Local Municipality has thus far failed to provide comment on the matter.
