The charges the 25-year old suspect faces are linked to the ongoing taxi war

Alfred Duma Local Municipality Mayor Vincent Madlala’s son faces charges of murder and attempted murder after being arrested on Tuesday, November 15.
KZN media liaison spokesperson Lt Col Zwane has confirmed that 25-year old Ndodo Madlala was arrested by members of the Special Task Team.
Officers pounced and arrested the 25-year-old in Ezakheni E-Section, near a shop.
The 25-year-old suspect is allegedly linked to the ongoing taxi war involving the Gamede clan.
Lt Col Zwane confirmed that the charges faced by the mayor’s son relate to a crime that was committed on June 7, 2015.
At about 8pm on the day in question, Kwanele Gamede (20) was shot and killed in Ezakheni E-Section near Sakhelwe School. It is alleged that he was with his girlfriend when they were attacked.
Kwanele’s girlfriend was wounded but survived the attack.
Madlala appeared in the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court last week Wednesday, facing murder and attempted murder charges, and is still in custody. His case was remanded to Wednesday, November 23, for a formal bail application.
This story has been updated. Allegations that he was arrested with a firearm or attempted to get rid of a firearm are not true. This has been confirmed by police.
