Update: Madlala released on bail

The case has been remanded to December 13 for further investigation

Sibonelo ‘Ndodo’ Madlala appeared in court today (November 23) and was released on R1000 bail.

He faces charges of murder and attempted murder relating to an incident that took place in June 2015.

He was represented by local attorney Justin Heunis, who applied for bail for his client.

The prosecution did not oppose bail.

Mayor Vincent Madlala did not attend his son’s court appearance. However, his vehicle was parked outside.

The case has been remanded to December 13 for further investigation.

A handful of Gamede clan members were seen protesting outside the courthouse, asking that bail not be granted.

Inside, the court was packed with Madlala family, friends and supporters.
