THE November league of the Vryheid Luremasters was held at Heyshope Dam on November 12.
The members departed for the venue full of enthusiasm despite the adverse weather predictions for the weekend.
On Saturday morning, the anglers awoke to an overcast morning with a slight breeze. The crews wasted no time in launching their boats and set off in great haste in search of those big Heyshope bass.
Weather conditions improved, with the sun making an appearance and the wind dying down. The anglers tried to make the most of the near perfect conditions but it did not last for too long. By 10:30am the wind picked up and the crews had no option but to seek the safety of the shore.
Despite the fact that the fishing time was severely curtailed, substantial amounts of fish were caught. Kelvin Bland won 1st and 2nd place with Bass of 2.2kg and 1.9kg respectively. Ina van Rheede van Oudtshoorn was the top lady angler with a Bass of 1.02kg. 1st junior was Tyler Compton with a Bass of 0.69kg.
Members will be informed about the date and venue for the December league. Catch and release. Please remember to fish for the future.
