uThukela held their annual wellness walk, which is about health awareness, on Thursday (November 24). The staff of uThukela District Municipality held a wellness day that included a walk from their offices to 5SAI army base.
“The staff are orientated on hygiene, diet and what symptoms to look out for with various illnesses,” said Gugu Mazibuko, the manager of the municipal health department.
The reason for the walk is that government promotes a healthy lifestyle for workers in order for them to perform to the best of their ability in their jobs.
There were many other fun activities for the employees to take part in, such as aerobics and tug-of-war.
The walkers were seen enjoying themselves and cheering each other on. Some of them walked in groups while others sustained a slow jog.
