The Greenock Clinic rolled out the Adolescents Youth Friendly Services (AYFS) in Greenock Farm, Dannhauser, on November 23.
The aim was to have a dialogue with the youth to find out what services the clinic should offer. Sister Gugu Dyasi said this was initiated by the national programme the Greenock Clinic was rolling out. She said this programme was also initiated to draw the youth to services offered by the clinic.
“The aim was also to make them (the youth) aware of the friendly services offered to them by the Clinic,” she said, adding that the youth are reluctant to visit the clinic. She said they are not shying away from health facilities, “we attended training in March in order to get service-friendly skills to cater for the youth.” Mrs Dyasi said they were skilled with certain standards to cater for AYFS.
“Services are the same but we were trained to up the standards of working as it is youth driven. Parents were also urged to communicate with the youth and also urged to attend the clinic.
Inkosi Sipho Nkosi lambasted ‘blessers’ and sugar daddies for sleeping with the youth and transmitting diseases. Mr Nkosi said, “Phansi with sugar daddies who lure young girls with fancy cellphones and money to sleep with them. Don’t be fooled by these sugar daddies who will lure you with money and claim that they love you,” he said, adding that they should abstain until they find the right man to marry them. He said they should avoid all these social ills and study hard for a bright future.
