Youngster enjoys weekly park runs

Mohammed Vawda enjoys being a ‘Parkrun’ runner. He took part in Ladysmith’s first-ever ‘Parkrun’ a few weeks ago and has run every one since. This is his Saturday enjoyment and exercise.
Mohammed is only 16 years old and a Grade 11 learner at the Islamic Educational Centre (IEC).
Every Saturday morning, he goes with his mother and sister to the Country Club. Why? That’s where the weekly timed runs are held! Last Saturday, he came first, which is quite an achievement!
The heat does not bother Mohammed, who is determined to become a great runner and athlete one day.
“I really enjoy running and other sports as well, and I definitely look forward to every Saturday,” says Mohammed.
