Organisations gather to raise awareness about Palestine

The purpose of the screening was to raise awareness of the day-to-day oppression faced by the Palestinian people

BDS (Boycot Divestment Sanctions), in conjunction with the Palestine Solidarity Committee Ladysmith, screened a Palestinian documentary film entitled ‘5 Broken Cameras’ at the Islamic Educational Centre today (December 4).

The documentary was about a Palestinian journalist who had his cameras broken by the Israeli police at the time when Israel invaded Palestine and built settlements there.

The journalist filmed the daily oppression faced by the Palestinian people, during which time five of his cameras were broken by the police. The purpose of today’s screening was to raise awareness of the day-to-day trials and tribulations faced by the Palestinians.

Those who attended were intrigued by the documentary, and questions were asked to gain more information.
