Assault plays out at Wagendrift Dam
Other emergency personal assisted to transport the patient via boat back to shore and thereafter was rushed to the Estcourt Provincial Hospital
The tranquil and scenic Wagendrift Dam was the scene of an assault on Monday morning, December 5 at about 6am. A man was fishing when he was caught off guard and beaten by unknown assailants.
It is believed that knobkerries and rocks were their weapons of choice. A nearby farmer contacted Advanced Life Support (ALS) paramedic Frank Saltmarsh to assist the injured fisherman.
Upon Mr Saltmarsh’s arrival he discovered that the assaulted victim had been critically injured
Other emergency personal assisted to transport the patient via boat back to shore and thereafter was rushed to the Estcourt Provincial Hospital by Sharaj Ambulance Services paramedics to be treated for the multiple injuries the man suffered.
The motive behind the assault is currently unknown.
