The tranquil and scenic Wagendrift Dam was the scene of an assault on Monday morning, December 5 at about 6am. A man was fishing when he was caught off guard and beaten by unknown assailants.

It is believed that knobkerries and rocks were their weapons of choice. A nearby farmer contacted Advanced Life Support (ALS) paramedic Frank Saltmarsh to assist the injured fisherman.
