Car hijacked with child still on board

A silver Renault Duster with registration NMR10028 was hijacked today (December 14).
The hijacked vehicle was reported to have a 9-year-old child on board.
The car was last seen in central Ladysmith, travelling towards Colenso.
According to police, they received information of a vehicle hijacked in Mooi River and heading to Roosboom.
The vehicle filled up with fuel at Midland Motors service station in the Ladysmith CBD and was seen in Lyell Street.
The parents and another child managed to jump off the vehicle at the service station, but the 9-year-old was still in the car when the hijackers sped away.
SAPS were in pursuit of the vehicle and apparently intercepted it at the Loskop bridge, managing to rescue the 9-year-old.
The family was assessed by ER24 for trauma.
