Senta Pfafferott turns 90
Senta treasured her church services at the Vryheid German Lutheran Church and was an active participant of the Vryheid Hospice.
SENTA Pfafferott/Mom (maiden name Freyer) was born in Moolman, situated north of Paulpietersburg in the Mpumalanga district on December 24, 1926. She completed her schooling in Piet Retief – Post schooling – Senta started her career as a seamstress in Johannesburg and later returned home and continued her working career at a general dealer store in Vryheid.
Senta subsequently met and married her late husband, Hugo Pfafferott, on February 6, 1948. Hugo was better known as ‘Pfaffie’, who worked for the Vryheid Municipality as town foreman for many years ad sadly passed away on April 26, 1996.
Senta’s priority throughout her life were her children, Udo, Hugo, also known as Peter, Tanya and Deon. To date she has also been blessed with 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Senta was a very creative lady with an artistic flair and excelled in sewing, Spanish black work, knitting, painting, baking and flower arranging and she won various prizes at the Vryheid shows and was even crowned Miss Vryheid in her day. She was very active with the Vryheid Woman’s Institute which led to many trips to eMondlo where she was instrumental in creating a Woman’s Institute in eMondlo, assisting in teaching the eMondlo community the art of sewing, knitting and establishing their own vegetable gardens.
Senta treasured her church services at the Vryheid German Lutheran Church and was an active participant of the Vryheid Hospice.
Senta unfortunately suffered a double stroke earlier this year and is currently recovering at the frail care in the Vryheid old age home. Hugo/Peter and his wife, Niki, still residing in Vryheid are absolute stalwarts virtually visiting her daily, ensuring she is comfortable and assisting with her recovery process. The rest of the family residing in Pretoria and Germany respectively, visit as and when possible.
