TEARS of joy were seen on many faces at Ingwephaphama School last month as the project to improve the school finally came to an end.
The school, which was one of the least fortunate in the AbaQulusi Municipality, being built of mud, was one of the three schools nominated by the government to be built in the 2014/2015 financial year.
The school was be given what is said to be a makeover worth R18.9 million and it included laboratories, a dining hall, sports facilities (including a man-sized chess board).
The Lenjane community, where the school is situated, will benefit greatly from these upgrades as the school was previously made of mud bricks and some classes were falling apart.
Inspectors visited the school three weeks ago to inspect the site and see that everything was up to standard.
The schools principal, Mr Mahlangu, encouraged the educators and community members to work together to build a better community.
