NDRF challenges Newcastle to support SPCA
The NDRF donated R2500 to the Newcastle SPCA and is challenging others to follow suit.
The Newcastle District and Residents Forum (NDRF) donated a much-needed R2500 in cash to the Newcastle SPCA yesterday morning (September 2).
This follows a plea made by the SPCA on their official Facebook page on August 31.
The post read;
“Cruelty, neglect and abuse are continuous! We will not give up on the voiceless; please don’t allow our doors to close due to lack of community support. We are not asking for bags of food or blankets; we need your financial support. We need to pay our bills in order to stay operational, and to do this, we need you!!!We need businesses to join the fight on a monthly basis; your donation is how you can join the fight against cruelty! All donations are tax deductible; simply request a section 18A tax certificate by emailing proof of payment to admin@newcastlespca.co.za and request the forms. PLEASE!!!!!!! We need you now; please don’t let them and us down!”
NDRF ward candidates Shawn Vermaak and Aasiya Bhigjee handed the donation to SPCA inspector Jenavieve Tinkler.
Vermaak thanked everyone who contributed and helped make the donation possible.
Forum calls on community to get involved
The NDRF has now challenged all political parties, businesses and residents to follow suit and support the SPCA as it works to keep its doors open.
“Open your hearts, give what you can and then challenge the next person to do the same.
“Let’s turn compassion into action. Let’s show Newcastle that when we stand together, we can make a difference,” Vermaak said.
