Banking on festive cheer

“We felt we needed to give back, and what better way than by spoiling children with gifts? We hope we will be able to put smiles on all their faces.”

Standard Bank staff delivered gifts to patients at Newcastle Provincial Hospital on Tuesday, December 13.

“The main aim of the project was to bring joy and happiness to the children in hospital, as we are aware not every child will be able to receive a gift,” said Regional Manager of Standard Bank Service Centre, Sunil Ramdhani.

Mr Ramdhani explained staff had decided to embark on this project as a way to contribute to the community’s well-being.

“We felt we needed to give back, and what better way than by spoiling children with gifts? We hope we will be able to put smiles on all their faces.”

Altogether 48 children benefited from the bank’s generosity.

“The remainder of the 60 gifts will be given to children who will be admitted over the festive period.”

As the children welcomed the early Christmas gifts, Mr Ramdhani was happy to be part of the project.

“We feel honoured the hospital allowed us to do this; we encourage other businesses to do similar projects,” he concluded.
