NOFTA honours mothers at annual dinner and dance

There was live entertainment by PK Sony, along with two medleys by local entertainer Lesley Chetty.

The Newcastle Organisation for the Aged (NOFTA) hosted its annual Mother’s Day Dinner and Dance at the NOFTA Hall in Nightingale Street on Saturday (May 23).

Guests enjoyed an evening of entertainment, good food and companionship as they gathered to celebrate the mothers of the organisation.

NOFTA chairman Morris Gajoo officially welcomed the guests and said the evening was dedicated to honouring the mothers of NOFTA for their contributions to the organisation, their families and the wider community.

Entertainment keeps guests smiling

A highlight of the evening was live entertainment by PK Sony, along with two medleys performed by local entertainer Lesley Chetty, who impressed everyone in attendance with his singing and guitar skills.

Master of ceremonies Alvin Chetty added humour to the programme with well-timed jokes that kept the guests thoroughly entertained.

Glamorous winners crowned

The event concluded with the crowning of NOFTA’s Most Glamorous Mothers of 2026.

The winners were:

  • Second Princess: Veni Naidoo
  • First Princess: Inderani Singh
  • Most Glamorous Mother: Neila Ramaballie
