Brokenshas say farewell to 2016

Staff and their family met at the dealership in Victoria Street for a time to reflect on the year and enjoy each other's company

As the curtain closes on 2016, staff and management from Brokenshas held a year-end party to celebrate their successes as well as say a fond farewell to two of their staff members.

Staff and their family met at the dealership in Victoria Street for a time to reflect on the year and enjoy each other’s company.

Director Tim Hume got the formalities started by describing 2016 as a year with ‘challenges’.

“We have overcome a lot but we have shown that we work well as a team. Next year is predicted to be a difficult one, so I look forward to your innovative ideas about going forward,” said Mr Hume.

He thereafter said farewell to Service Manager Anand Maharaj and Finance Manager and Neel Babulal, who were retiring after 44 and 13 years respectively. Unfortunately Mr Babulal was unable to attend the function.

Speaking about the two retirees, former Director Eddie Veenstra welcomed them to the ‘Old Boys Club’. He congratulated Mr Maharaj on an ‘awesome achievement’ and said his loyalty to the company must be admired.

Speaking about Mr Babulal, Mr Veenstra said that he was a ‘fantastic guy’ who was loyal. He wished them a long, happy and healthy retirement. Staff members were also called on to observe a moment of silence for their colleague Winnie who passed away earlier in the week.

Thereafter a cake was cut and supper was served, while staff members socialised.
