Buffalo Coal hosts sports tournament

Rown Karstel, Buffalo Coal chief executive officer, re-iterated the importance of the role that Buffalo Coal plays in the community by maintaining good relationships between the community forum and the company.

Community relationships were maintained and new ones forged when Buffalo Coal and the Dannhauser Community Mining Forum (DCMF) hosted what will be an annual sports tournament in the Milford community.
Held over the weekend, December 16-18, the tournament featured 16 teams playing soccer and netball.

Played in the gruelling heat, the knock-out games were first played with semi-finals and finals on the Sunday.

Kevern Mattison, Buffalo Coal general manager, who also kick-started the tournament, thanked all teams for participating and making the event such a success. A special thank you to Ismail’s Trading for sponsorship of the Soccer Trophy. In the netball section, the floating trophy went to Mighty Fighters with Women Chester runners-up. The football floating trophy was taken home by United Green Spurs with Abarapeli runners-up.
