Taylor’s tremendous success

Taylor is hopeful that she will score a seventh A as she sends her English paper for remarking

17-year-old Taylor Mabaso, a grade 12 learner from Drakensberg Secondary School was placed third in the Estcourt circuit.

She received six distinctions, which included A’s for isiZulu, Accounting, Maths, Physics, Life Orientation and Life Science.

The soft-spoken young lass says she was happy when she received the results, especially as she was not expecting a distinction for Maths.

Taylor is hopeful that she will score a seventh A as she sends her English paper for remarking. Her plans for tertiary education are to study medicine at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban.

“I watch a lot of television series and I’ve become interested in medicine. I also enjoy helping people and I want to make a difference,” said Taylor when asked what prompted her choice for studies.

Her advice to the grade 12s for 2017 is:

“Engage yourself in something other than studying all the time. I do yoga and it is very relaxing. If you always focus on studying, you will go crazy! Learners must realise they would have to sacrifice many things in order to study, like spending less time with family and friends and limiting time of cell phones.”
