Stove sets kitchen alight

The fire was put out before emergency personnel could arrive at the scene

A small fire broke out in a house yesterday afternoon (January 19) in Khwaja Road.

It is alleged that the fire broke out due to oil that was forgotten on the stove. The fire quickly spread and destroyed the stove.

The flames were put out before emergency personnel could arrive at the scene.

The ceilings in the kitchen were also burnt, turning them a black, smoky colour.

The entire house was filled with smoke and residents were seen cleaning up broken pieces of glass from the stove.

Public Safety and the Ladysmith Fire Department responded to the scene.
