Educator training workshop to be held today in Ladysmith

The workshop will take place at the Islamic Educational Centre (IEC) at 1.30pm

The National Awqaf Foundation of South Africa (Awqaf SA) and H2 Advisory Carl Garner will be conducting an educator training workshop in Ladysmith.

Today, understanding mind and thinking skills are becoming more and more important not only in educational settings but also in the world we live in.

Educators are the primary carriers of our knowledge systems and are therefore central and have a key role to play.

“The methodology has changed significantly from rote learning to problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills with associated changes in facilitating teaching and learning,” said Deputy Minister of Education Enver Surty.

South Africa must move and embrace that change.

Carl Garner, an educational psychologist expert on “How2Teach”, “How2Learn”, focuses on the “How2Powers” of physical, emotional, spiritual intelligence and learning powers and best practices.

Mr Garner – a former principal, superintendent and director of education – is being sponsored and hosted by Awqaf SA.

Awqaf SA has initiated and successfully carried out many community empowering programmes in South Africa. Among many is a computer laboratory in the western Cape and matric mathematics intervention programme in Soweto.

This educator training programme, to be held today (January 30), is the first for Ladysmith and is open to all educators for a registration fee of R100.

The workshop will take place at the Islamic Educational Centre (IEC) at 1.30pm.
