DNA links Loskop rapist to crime scene

"He was convicted and sentenced to three years imprisonment for housebreaking, 15 years imprisonment for robbery, and 10 years imprisonment for rape"

A 23-year-old rapist has been sentenced in the Estcourt Regional Court on January 17.

Zinsizwa Innocent Makhowane was one of three people who broke into a home in the Nkomokazini area in Loskop and raped a 21-year-old woman. The woman was also robbed of her personal belongings before the three suspects fled the scene.

“The suspects managed to elude detectives until a DNA lead linked Makhowane to the crime scene,” commented police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig.

Through investigation by detectives from the Amangwe police, the man was arrested and appeared in court.

“He was convicted and sentenced to three years imprisonment for housebreaking, 15 years imprisonment for robbery, and 10 years imprisonment for rape,” added Captain Struwig.
